Janine's Journal

March Break has arrived and with it lots of snow! I am one of these rare birds that love the snow - I love the look of it, how awake I feel after walking Zafu, and the magical look of white blankets atop everything!

Since my last entry, our house has grown by another... a cat! Cheong has named him Mushaka which in Sanskrit means mouse or rat. Symbolically, the name Mushaka is to remind us of the divinity within all things - big and small!

We are so blessed and excited to have opened our Eco Store online! If you haven't yet browsed the store, check it out here. More news on the Eco Store coming next month in honour of Earth Day.

Enjoy today,
Namaste.

Fall is a time of transition and transitioning is what we have been doing at Blue Skies Yoga! We have lots of exciting things that will be happening in 2008 so keep your eyes peeled!

We are happy to report that our yoga dog, Zafu, who was at one time "untrainable" has now turned into a gentleman and our little prince. Amazingly, our hound dog (hounds are renowned for getting a scent and running off) can be taken off the leash and will listen and come back! It did take 4 levels of training though...

I have really learned about the seasons this year. First from living air-conditioner free at our home during this past summer: it forced us to not work in the heat of the day and instead lay down :) Now, with the brisk air, on our many daily dog walks, I am again revelling in the beautiful crisp air and the ways of nature.

Enjoy the gift of the present,

Namaste.

I am happy to report that Cheong and I are now married! We had a magical day filled with love, laughter, and shared with our teachers, friends, and families. By popular demand, here are some photos from our wedding day. We learned also that mapquest is wrong in the country in case you ever think of using it for directions in the boonies! More wedding pictures are now online here.

We have also just moved into our new house - I now know why people who are moving are busy! It is much more work than I expected. Nevertheless, we are taking the slow and steady route and gradually getting things done.

Enjoy the tulips,

Namaste,
Janine

Dr. Lad says, "Change is permanent." Spring arrives tomorrow and with it it brings many changes in my life! I am getting married in April to my sweetie Cheong Ng. Zafu is excited to have a dad and I am excited to have my best friend around. We are also having our home built so all three of us are moving somewhere new! I know that cheong_janine.jpgZafu is especially looking forward to having a forest for a backyard.

There is still wedding stuff to be done but I am taking the slow and steady way with those things and getting lots of help from my family. I am lucky to have awesome friends and family who are helping to put together our special day. The next journal entry will undoubtedly be wedding pictures :D

Love is everything.

Big news in my house!! My puppy who I still adore has a Girlfriend! Her name is Dessa and she is a German Shepard puppy who lives a few houses over. They are totally in love and he brings her his squeaky toys and they do dog things like dig holes and bark at small dogs together. To the right is my boy with another friend, but alas not his beloved.

I am also elated that many of my friends are pregnant and it is so great to be around gorgeous pregnant goddesses. Many as in 6!! Auntie Janine here we come!

The fall colours have arrived and they are my favourite! Velvet reds, burnt oranges, buttercup yellows and much more. I hope that you too are getting out to enjoy the crisp air, hearing the wind whistle through the grass, and going to the pumpkin and apple farms. group rogers women of the year_1.JPG

Recently, I was very honoured to be nominated for the Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year award in the Health and Wellness category. The picture to the right is myself and some of the other nominees on the Rogers Daytime program. It was great being surrounded by such amazingly inspiring and giving women and hearing their stories.

Ordinary women doing extraordinary things.

Much of my time this month has been in my new role as mum to my puppy Zafu. I am excited to announce that Zafu has been selected as a Daily Puppy and is part of their "Daily Recommended Allowance of Puppies." Click here to see more cuteness that is Zafu.

I have also made many new friends and shared art, stories, and yoga at our summer camps. Next week, Zafu and I are off to the cottage for a well-deserved restorative beach treatment, or moreover, me catching up on reading all of the books that are beside my bed.

I hope that you are also making the most out of the sunshine.

June has been an exciting month!

It began with an amazing trip up north to Bancroft, Ontario where I guest taught yoga at Grail Springs Spa. There, I met some wonderful people, went canoeing on a lake that made me wonder why we have skyscrapers and roads instead of trees and lakes, and I started my dream book inspired by my mentor, Shevaun.

Then, I graduated from University and as my gift to myself, I got a Puppy!! (ahem the cuteness to the right) His name is Zafu which means fruit in Sanskrit. A zafu is also a meditation cushion. He is my yoga dog and will be coming with me most places I go.

Namaste,
Janine.
