Yoga & Ayurveda

In India, the sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda are intertwined into daily life. By covering the foundational ayurvedic theory of the doshas to assess individual constitutions you can start to look at your asana practice from a different perspective. As an extension of the Ayurveda for You workshops, this series of classes will build upon the fundamentals of Ayurveda and Yoga together. Classes will consist of a 30 minute lecture and 90 minutes of asana practice. Handouts will be provided. This course is for people who have attended the Ayurveda for Yoga workshop. Recognizing that each person is unique and that practice is a culmination of intention, movement and breath, Hatha Yoga provides the opportunity to return to the self and allow balance to restore from within. Instructor: Cheong

Just Your Size Yoga:

Yoga is for everyone. This class is geared to the larger sized student. The class can benefit both those who are new to yoga or as a refresher for students looking to deepen their practice. This class will focus on gentle stretching and strengthening for the larger sized client. Through yoga, you will gain strength, body awareness, increased flexibility, and tools for relaxation. Deepen your practice with a one-on-one yoga class where we will go over specific areas of focus for your body and suggest a recommended practice. Each session is tailored to your needs and you will receive notes from each session. Your initial session will include a complimentary wellness consultation. Instructor: Cheong

Private Classes are great for:

  • Students who would like to achieve specific goals such as stabilizing, strengthening, or increasing flexibility in specific areas of the body
  • Busy people with a limited amount of free time
  • People that are more comfortable being taught one-on-one than in a group class setting
  • Preparing your body for your favourite sport
  • Recovering from an illness or accident or addressing chronic pain

Remain at home or come to our studio for a private class. Small group sessions are also available. Various times and days are available, please contact us to schedule a time that is convenient to both parties.

Yoga Journeys for 2-6 year olds:

Roar like a lion... Fly like a butterfly... Travel to far away places by experiencing yoga combined with music, storytelling, and co-operative games. We will stretch your child's imagination with yoga classes that explore breath-work, yoga postures, and relaxation techniques presented in a fun and creative manner. Instructor: Janine

Yoga Adventures for 7-17 year olds:

Unwind & Relax. Flowing yoga poses are coupled with balances, inversions, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Co-operative games, drama, and partner yoga promote a healthy group environment and improve interpersonal communication skills with their peers. Instructor: Janine

Roar like a lion... Fly like a butterfly... Join yoga adventure guide Janine Keller for a birthday party your child won't forget. We will custom design a yoga class for your child (ages 2 and up) and their guests! We will travel to your location within Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge. Past birthday party themes have included Dinosaurs & Dragons, Butterflies & Puppies, and Travelling to Far Away Places. 30 minute children's yoga class tailored to the ages and abilities of the guests (up to 7 guests). Blue Skies Yoga will provide yoga mats. Instructor: Janine

Family yoga, for ages 4 to 9 and their parents, offers a relaxing way for your members of your family to have fun together practicing yoga. This class is a great way to stretch, play, sing, and have fun with your little family! All siblings are welcome: if they are older than 9, they can take on a leadership role in class.

An introduction to breath, focus, asana, and relaxation are discovered as we play with yoga in creative ways. We might explore the jungle together, or create our own cities. Classes may include reading stories, making up stories, partner yoga, and always relaxation. Instructor: Janine

Prenatal Yoga: Register Online Here

During the 10 month gestation cycle, the pregnant body undergoes many changes. Prenatal yoga can help relieve common aches and pains associated with pregnancy such as lower back pain and pelvic aches.

Our lunar practice will help open the hips and strengthen your body to prepare for childbirth. We learn postures and alignment techniques that help us find comfort as we move through pregnancy, labour, and motherhood.

Class will make extensive use of props to be inclusive for each trimester of pregnancy. We recommend that you consult your midwife or your doctor before beginning our prenatal yoga classes. You do not need to have practiced yoga to join us in prenatal yoga classes. Instructor: Janine

Nesting Network: Baby & Me Yoga: Register Online Here

Blue Skies Yoga and The Nesting Space are proud to present:
The Nesting Network: the only Program that offers 3 Outings in 1 - Workout, Learn and Connect. Our weekly program begins with an invigorating 45 minute yoga fitness segment with Blue Skies Yoga who specialize in yoga for moms, babies, and kids. The class will leave you feeling strengthened, refreshed, and uplifted - helping you get back on course to great health and fitness.

It is followed by a half-hour discussion led by Christine Robinson, Owner of The Nesting Space, and trained Network volunteers. The Topics will vary from week to week and group to group and include such things as Nutrition for Busy Moms, Communicating and Bonding with Your Baby, and Helping Baby Sleep so You Can Too. We finish off with a half hour of socializing and sharing.
